One Man Stage Crew
Dana Point, Calif. - I was sitting on the bus parked backstage at the Doheny Blues festival watching the crew unload our truck, when I spotted this guy. - see photo at left He was carrying a road case on his shoulder and pushing another through the grass. Rolling a case across the grass is hard enough let alone carring another on your shoulder. I asked Steve how much that case weighed and he said 147-lbs. Well I grabbed my camera and set off to find Hercules. I knew nobody would believe this without a photo. I found him and he was happy to pose again for photos. Management better not get any ideas about this. © 1998 G. Zaccaria

Cray Rear-Ended in Rio
Sao Paulo, Brasil - After a grueling 9-hour flight to Sao Paulo we checked into the Parthenon Qi Hotel early Tuesday morning. Well some of us did, the others had to wait and mill around the lobby waiting for a room. This can be upsetting to some, but not to the experienced traveler. We had the day-off to re-coop from the harshness and the promoter, Jerry Marques was on top of everything. Steve and I decided to go see Stanley Clark that night. He was performing at the Palace, the same venue we would be at the next night. I listen to the 1st part of his set then went back to the hotel to rest up for tomorrow. The Palace is a great venue, everything runs smooth and they have experience with international touring artists. Robert played a blazing 90-minute show that started around 11pm. The next day we flew to the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro. The last thing you want to happen in a foreign country is a car accident. see photo left middle That is what happened in the tunnel going from the airport to the hotel. The driver along with Robert, Kevin and Dave stopped suddenly to avoid the car in front of them. The driver behind was not paying attention and wham! hit them car from behind. We were in a van in front of the accident and had to wait at the end of the tunnel to pick up the survivors. No injuries to report. We had a great show that night. Then we were off to Bela Horizante for one more show and home to the US for 10-days off. © 1998 G. Zaccaria
