ANOTHER 3 GIGS August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 1996
Don't Get The Carpet Dirty
Three gig weekends seem more like five or six days. For us, it felt like they had been planned in only 3 days. The first gig, the promoter spared every expense to make our stay as uncomfortable as possible.
Everything was provided from blowing dust, a wavering generator, a postage stamp size stage, and a carpet (from somebody's wedding recieption) that we were not suppose to get dirty.
HELLO! this is a band not a tea party! Not a total loss, though, thanks to Mom and Dad's visit from Spokane. They really enjoyed the show, but still don't know why Robert ended the set by ripping all of the guitar strings from his guitar. Maybe he was mad at the promoter?
Next we night drove to the Big Sky Fest, in Billings, Montana, where our stage hands were from the National Guard. We didn't see them until loadout because 9AM was too early for them to get up. Ha! Just kidding they were doing push-ups. But seriously, they did show up in time for load out and the fireworks display! With all due respect, they did an excellent job at loadout, including hauling all the dressing room cases across a grassy field to the stage.
Our last stop, on this tour, was Silver Mountain in Kellogg, Idaho. This place is a worth the trip! The shows are done on top of the mountain at the ski lodge. We were all taken up the mountain to the venue by a half hour ride on the worlds longest gondola .
It was cold and we almost froze our as......anyway, it was great to see my sister and brother-in-law, as well as Mike and Linda.
ROAD TIP: Mike, remember to turn off the headlights when you turn off the motor. Here's a Novice Road Trick: If you can't go on tour, send your jacket. By the way, Thanks to my sister's husband, Brad, for the nice jacket.
