APRIL '95 REHEARSALS April 22, to May 7, 1995

It's always fun to begin a tour with a good practical joke. Upon arriving at a hotel, our production manager went inside to check us in while the rest of us waited outside in the van. I saw the cell phone, and being very tired, I decided to call and page him (at the front desk of the hotel) to find out if our rooms were ready. He answered the phone, thinking, of course, that someone important needed to reach him quickly......but all he heard was "HEY, HURRY UP ! WE'RE TIRED ! WE WANT OUR ROOMS !!". I recommend this to anyone with an itinery and a cell phone.....and a good natured person to play the joke on.

As for the "Vibroman", it performed exactly as planned during the rehearsals for the new album, "Some Rainy Morning". Robert had written another song, "Little Boy Big", that used this vibrato sound. You can hear a mono vibrato on the song "I'll Go On". And a real Cool Stereo vibrato on 3 chords in the song "Will You Think Of Me". Obviously, this is became one of my favorite songs ! Also during rehearsals, I went from being "Zack" to "Vibroman". Further pressure started building on me and my product as we learned of the possibility of opening for the "Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge European Tour". Robert Cray can handle his own, but could "Vibroman".
